This morning an interesting post came in my inbox from Liz from Empower Thailand letting folks know that there is a way that sex workers and sex work rights advocates can contribute information to the Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP) produced by the US Department of State, Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons. Empower has been making a contribution to the TIP report for the last couple of years.
Information can be found on Justia.com. But Laura Agustín has written a great article "US Trafficking Office wants your help with imperialist anti-trafficking operations" which looks critically at this bit of news and at the submission form for the 2012 report. More importantly she has pulled out many of the questions where sex workers and advocates can and should contribute information, making it easier for you to focus your contribution.
There is not much time to do this but it could make for a more balanced report if more sex work rights advocates and sex workers contribute!
DATES: Submissions must be received by the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons by 5 p.m. on February 13, 2012.

Bliss without Risk (ROZKOŠ bez RIZIKA) in action for 17 December 2011: Come with us to march for the rights of sex workers who have been killed. RR is again connected to the global commemoration of sex workers killed through violence on the 17th of December with a march through the city with the symbols of this day - red umbrellas. Everything will culminate with candles lit for each victim. This year, RR organized a march on Friday, 16/12 beginning at 13h in the RR counseling center. Before the march RR workers will be available to the media. All interested persons are welcome to visit our facilities and receive a small gift. Bring your own red umbrella if you can as our center does not usually have enough.
