"Prostitutes of Europe" is a socio-artistic project with a European dimension.

Photographer Mathilde Bouvard travelled through Europe meeting with sex workers to conduct interviews and take pictures. The cities she visited include Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Prague, Stockholm, Budapest, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Geneva, London, Bern and Marseille.

The results of her meetings include testimonies, photos, and sometimes, simple moments of sharing, which we shall find on no wall. 

A selection of 45 black and white photographs, 3 paintings and texts reflect a different glance on prostitution that is far removed from the usual stereotypes.

Also in the exhibition are videos and sound creations by Clémence Demesme and Claire Fenateau.

With the help of Espace P, a sex worker support organisation in Brussels, Belgium and other organisations, Ms. Bouvard supports this exhibition with extensive information for vistors about prostitution. A part of the proceeds from the sale of photos and other products will be donated to these organisations to support their work. 

The exhibition is now in Berlin at ACUD galerie from 06 June to 20 July 2009. Opening party is on Saturday June 6 at 19:00 (7pm) with an afterparty - VJ and DJ Performance from Citizen Clem und Mamajih - London/Brussels/Paris!

"Prostitutes of Europe" is a socio-artistic project with a European dimension.

Mathilde Bouvard, painter, photographer and scenographer has been working on this project since February 2007. The purpose of this project is to create a series of exhibitions and allow a large public to become more aware of the social and human aspect of this activity (prostitution) and its complex situation in Europe.

The project is supported by the European Community and the programm "Youth in Action".
